Frozen Finley

The recent matchup between North Carolina State University (NCSU) and the University of North Carolina (UNC) ice hockey teams was a highly anticipated event for many local hockey fans, and it did not disappoint.

Over 24,000 fans packed Carter-Finley Football Stadium, the home of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes for the recent Stadium Series game, to watch the Wolfpack dominate the Tar Heels with a final score of 7-3.
The Wolfpack started the game strong, taking a 2-1 lead early in the first period. UNC struck first, but NCSU continued to dominate throughout the game, with consistent scoring and solid defensive plays. UNC struggled to catch up, despite their efforts to mount a comeback in the second and third periods.

Overall, the Frozen Finley game was a thrilling display of college hockey and a great example of the growing popularity of the sport in the Southeast. With a packed stadium, enthusiastic fans, and a dominant performance by the home team, it’s clear that hockey is here to stay in North Carolina.
