Villa’s Tacos at Grand Central Market

Los Angeles has no shortage of incredible places to eat, but few offer the combination of food, history, and atmosphere you’ll find at Grand Central Market in Downtown LA.

Operating since 1917, Grand Central Market is a Los Angeles institution, bringing together an incredible variety of food vendors under one roof. It’s busy, colorful, a little chaotic, and exactly the kind of place we love exploring when we travel.

Our lunch destination was Villa’s Tacos, a popular taco spot that has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand, recognizing excellent food at a good value. Founded by Victor Villa, the business started as a backyard taco operation before growing into one of LA’s celebrated taco destinations.

We ordered the Villa’s Trio, featuring three of their signature queso tacos: Ranchera Asada, Papas con Chorizo, and Black Bean con Pollo. Each is built around a handmade blue corn tortilla loaded with melted cheese, fresh toppings, and an incredible combination of flavors.

The tacos were colorful, generously filled, a little messy, and absolutely amazing. It’s easy to understand why Villa’s has earned so much attention. The food is creative without being complicated, and every bite delivers something worth getting excited about.

Grand Central Market was just as much a part of the experience. The historic food hall is packed with interesting vendors, sights, sounds, and smells. It’s the kind of place where you could spend an afternoon wandering, sampling different foods, and planning what to eat on your next visit.

We loved the tacos, loved the market, and would happily return to explore more of what both have to offer. Villa’s Tacos absolutely lives up to its Michelin recognition, and Grand Central Market is a must-visit Los Angeles destination. Get the Villa’s Trio, bring your appetite, and leave time to explore.
