One of the districts that we ended up spending lots of time in was Little Italy. They have great restaurants, bars, and shops. Little Italy San Diego is 48 blocks which makes it the largest Little Italy in the United States. Here are the places we visited during the trip to Little Italy.
Bars:
Mikkeller Tasting Room – This is a small place to grab a drink with a large tap list. Anthony tried the pudding pop beer which was great.
Ballast Point – This is a great place to grab a beer and a snack. We tried the pretzel bites which were served with beer cheese and mustard. Yum!
Shopping:
Farmers Market – Each Saturday they have a Farmer’s Market with over 200 vendors. You can buy flowers, artwork, and fresh veggies. It is a really great place to check out.
Herb & Eatery – This is such a cute place. You can grab a gift. They have glassware and cookbooks. You can also pick up a beer.
Eats:
Salt and Straw – This is a must-do. There is normally a wait but the ice cream is totally worth it. They have some funky flavors like tomatillo chutney with cream cheese but they also have traditional flavors like a chocolate brownie. It is some of the best ice cream you will ever try.
Devil’s Dozen Doughnuts – Their doughnuts are made fresh hourly and are delicious. I had the strawberry cheesecake doughnut. It was so good. Make sure to go upstairs to enjoy some great views of the water.
The Crack Shack – This is the joint to grab fried chicken. Check our full write up here.
If you visit San Diego make sure to visit Little Italy. You will eat some yummy fun, drink some great beverages and have a great time shopping.
