Being one of the few people in the bar old enough to remember old school arcades I remember them being fun but this place has ‘leveled up’ from back in the day. We had a fun time last night playing Asteroids, Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Skee-ball, and a ton of other games from the late 70s and early 80s. It is a great walk down memory lane with a beer selection that rivals any bar in Raleigh.
We had a great time and it is a place I would recommend to hang out especially on a night when you want to do something other than talk about sports or politics. They did have a few televisions with games on and one with NC SPIN playing so if you can’t be entertained with the video games I guess you could go back to what you do everywhere else. Bottom line – BOXCAR Bar + Arcade is a fun place to spend and evening and remember the good ol days of rationing quarters and trying to get a high score. Even if those good ol days were before your time.
