RIP It’s Tough to Be a Bug! #WDW25

On our latest visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we had the bittersweet privilege of catching one of the final presentations of It’s Tough to Be a Bug!—a quirky, 3D experience that’s been entertaining guests since the park opened in 1998. Nestled inside the iconic Tree of Life, this show combined clever humor, immersive effects, and lovable characters from A Bug’s Life to create a family-friendly attraction that was equal parts fun and surprising (who can forget the bug “exit” moment at the end?).

While the attraction may have been a little intense for some younger guests, it was always a memorable experience—and a favorite stop for anyone needing a break from the Florida sun. Knowing this was one of the last times it would play, the energy in the theater was nostalgic and warm, as fellow fans smiled through the familiar script and reacted to the sensory surprises one last time with bug eyes of course.

It’s always tough to say goodbye, but we’re grateful to have experienced this hidden gem before it buzzed off for good. Here’s to what’s next for the Tree of Life—and to all the little touches that made It’s Tough to Be a Bug! a unique piece of Disney history.
