The return to in-person races has been off to a slow start post-pandemic and with good reason. It is difficult to keep a large group of people separate enough for everyone to both feel comfortable and enjoy their race. Our first race back this January was in one of our favorite places in Walt Disney World with RunDisney. A round trip journey between EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom these races are a lot of fun with a lot to see along the way.
We missed the registration for 2023 so we’ll be sitting at home reliving the memories with all the finish line amnesia one has to have to want to run again. But to stay sane we’ll remind ourselves the race starts at 5AM but you have to be there at 3:30AM to get a parking space and walk over a mile to the starting line. The run is crowded and the paths used often narrow without warning. And most importantly even at the happiest place on earth, a half-marathon is still 13.1 miles long.
So yes – we will miss you but only so much. And who knows if a registration pops up we may do it again. All of these negatives are a small price to pay for the memories – right?
