D-Day’s 75th Anniversary

The Normandy landings were the landing operations on Tuesday, June 6, 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Codenamed Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day, it was the largest seaborne invasion in history.

There isn’t a lot to say about D-Day and this anniversary that isn’t already being said in multiple places and sites.

We had the good fortune to visit a couple of years ago and the realization that many people who had likely never left the state they were born in traveled halfway around the world to liberate others they did not know was amazing. The freedom that still exists today because of their sacrifice should not be taken for granted.

To these we owe the high resolve that the cause for they died shall live.
