We are looking forward to covering the Taste of the New South Food and Wine weekend at Pinehurst over labor day. The weekend has lots of great events with chefs from places like Tupelo Honey Cafe and Capital Club 16.
The weekend kicks off with a welcome reception. Guests are invited to sample over 2 dozen wines. One of the cool things about this event is the debut of a specialty beer from Highland Brewing Company. We can’t wait to see what the creative geniuses from Highland have come up with!
After the reception, dinner will be served. There will be an oyster roast and a pig picking. What a great way to kick off the labor day weekend. Guests will enjoy bluegrass music while tasting a southern favorite – pork. Please make sure to save room for dessert though, as there will be a southern dessert bar. Fingers crossed for some banana pudding please.
Saturday morning starts with a Sip N Stroll Walking Tour of the Village of Pinehurst with the folks from Highland. We will enjoy Beer Mary’s and mimosa. You can also enjoy a Southern Influenced Old European style brunch demo from Jake Wolf, which is Raleigh’s chef and co-owner of Capital Club 16.
Following brunch, guests are invited to the Southern Tailgate Lunch. The games will be on and they will have tailgating for all to enjoy. This sounds like the best way to kick off the college football season.
The afternoon has lots of fun activities to enjoy.Interactive workshops that show you a day in the life of a wine maker, learning from Tupelo Honey’s Chef and discovering North Carolina’s beer landscape. Saturday evening concludes with a Vintner Dinner.
Sunday will start with a Farm to Fork Brunch. The team at Pinehurst will serve a breakfast with ingredients from a 50 mile radius. Can’t wait to see what great things the team comes up with.
Sunday afternoon will offer many workshops again. You can learn the history of the humble pig, find out about a plant pure nation and enjoy beverages from Lagunitas beer.
The evening will end with a dinner from the Pinehurst Team. They will each bring their backgrounds to the table to create a delicious meal. There will be a silent auctions to help benefit. Pinecrest High School’s Culinary program.
We are looking forward to sharing our experience and hope you will join us for the weekend. For more information about the Taste of the New South Food and Wine weekend check out their website here.
