We finally got to visit QueenBurger in Durham in the Tobacco Warehouse District (right next to the Durham Bulls Stadium). They opened their doors this fall. Their concept is smash burgers made with grass-fed beef. Queenburger is the brainchild of Sean Umstead and Michelle Vanderwalker – co-owners of Durham’s award-winning Kingfisher Cocktail Bar & Queeny’s.
Here is what we had:
- Classic 1/3 pound double of grass-fed Baldwin beef, griddled onions, Ashe County hoop cheese, housemade pickles, special sauce
- Double 1/3 pound double of grass-fed Baldwin beef and Ashe County hoop cheese
- Carolina Slaw Burger is two smashed grass-fed burgers, Ashe County hoop cheese topped with housemade beef chili and crunchy slaw
- House-blend fire spice shoestring fries
- Sea salt shoestring fries
I absolutely loved the burgers. They were so good. The house blend fire spice shoestring fries were awesome. They were not too spicy, more flavorful. If you find yourself in Durham grab a burger at Queenburger. You will not be disappointed.
