Some restaurants just feel like part of the place they are in. That was our experience at Drunken Jack’s in Murrells Inlet. It has the seafood, the water, the pirate-adjacent name, the stained glass windows, and enough sailing decorations to make the whole meal feel like you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
We started with the hushpuppies, which is always the correct way to begin a seafood meal. These were warm, golden, and very easy to keep reaching for while we looked over the menu.
For lunch, we tried the Inlet Shrimp Po’Boy and the Grilled Triggerfish Sandwich. The shrimp po’boy was exactly what I hoped for — generous, satisfying, and full of coastal lunch energy. But I have to be honest: I was jealous of the triggerfish order. The grilled triggerfish sandwich was the kind of plate that makes you immediately start planning a return visit so you can order it yourself next time.
The food was outstanding, but the service made the meal even better. Friendly, quick, and easy — the kind of service that lets you relax and enjoy being there.
Drunken Jack’s has that classic Murrells Inlet feeling: seafood, boats, character, and a dining room that gives you something to look at while you wait. The stained glass and sailing touches made it feel memorable without being overdone.
