MOW Night Sky

Tonight there was a new moon, a clear sky and we were in Mouth of Wilson – about as far from civilization as you can get and a perfect place to try and take a picture of the Milky Way. Unfortunately this is not the best time of year to do it in the Northern Hemisphere but it was worth a try with so many conditions being in our favor.

Here is a sampling of what it looked like coming out of the camera – all were shot with the 35mm Sigma Art lens at f/1.4 and a shutter between 10-25 seconds.

This picture was my favorite – it was partially lit by a passing car but the stars still showed well.
