Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park

The Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park is located in downtown Wilson, NC. It is 2-acres and features 30 whirligigs. There are benches and a big lawn where you can spread a blanket out and enjoy a picnic. The park is open from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. and it is free.

The park is named for Vollis Simpson who was a farm machinery repairman. He made the sculptures on his family farm. Vollis died in May of 2013 at the age of 94.

In 2010 the town of Wilson announced a plan to move the whirligigs and create the Whirligig Park in downtown Wilson. Now people can come and enjoy the whirligigs that stand over 50 feet tall.

Here are all the details about the park.

Whirligigs are fun for all ages.
