Executive Mansion Holiday Open House

North Carolina’s Executive Mansion, the “people’s house,” will open its historic doors again for the beloved annual Holiday Open House from Dec. 12 through Dec. 15. Admission is free and reservations are not needed or accepted. Visitors should enter at the main gates on Blount Street.

Visitors are invited to tour the home, take in the decorations, and enjoy seasonal musical entertainment by local performing groups. The first floor of the mansion will be decorated with North Carolina-grown Christmas trees, floral and mixed evergreen arrangements and ornate mantle displays.

The displays are amazing and self-guided tour is full of North Carolina History courtesy the volunteers stationed in each room. It doesn’t take long and is definitely worth the quick stop in to see everything.

You never know who may walk through to say hello. I guess it should come as no surprise since he does live there.

It was great to see Governor Cooper but Tanner may have been more excited to meet Sadie a pet of one of the grounds-keepers at the mansion.

The house is full of details and large and small displays. The gingerbread barn, nativity and kwanza candles all caught my eye as we walked through.
