Day One of San Diego we decided to kick around the Gaslamp Quarter. This is 16 blocks of food, fun, and shopping. There are beautiful Victorian-style buildings as you stroll through the quarter.
The Gaslamp is also home to Petco Park which is where San Diego Padres play baseball.
Stone Taproom is located right next to Petco Park. It is a great spot to grab a drink. Anthony tried their Farking Wheaton Woot Stout. This Imperial Stout is 13% ABV so use caution when while consuming this delicious beer.
We stopped by Horton Park too. This is a great plaza. It has a cool mural on the side of the building and a beautiful fountain that was built in 1910. The fountain is one of San Diego’s oldest civic landmarks.
We got to see the Chuck Jones Gallery too. He animated many of the classic cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Road Runner. This is a neat spot to check out if you are in the Gaslamp Quarter. You can see lots of his work.
The great thing about visiting the quarter during the summer months is that you can enjoy the Artisan Market on Sundays. They have unique gifts and cool things to check out. It is open from 10-2 and is located on Fifth Street.
And as a double bonus on Sundays metered parking is free! So make your visit on a Sunday and you will save on parking.
The Gaslamp Quarter is a great place to spend the day in San Diego if you are looking to eat, shop and play.
