First Friday is one of our things to do in downtown Raleigh. It is put on by Downtown Raleigh Alliance. There are free events downtown in galleries. The restaurants offer dinner and drink specials. It is really lots of fun.
Last Friday we visited the CAM museum. The Helping Hand Mission Band was there.
“The band is recognized across North Carolina and is known for its show stopping performances. The goal of the HHM Marching Band Program is to provide opportunities for community service, physical fitness, outreach, and discipline to many at-risk youth and HHM alumni ages 7 and older through participation in a marching band that performs across North Carolina at community events, grand openings, and parades. Many of the children in our band are at-risk youth from around the Triangle area.”
We enjoyed a great performance! They danced and played music for all the guests. It was wonderful. The CAM museum has a exhibit going on about the band. If you find yourself downtown, stop by and check it out. You can also get details here.
We also got to check out the newest addition to downtown Raleigh, the Dillon Building. It is a new mixed use facility that has office space, apartments and retail space. The building is LEED certified and features beautiful views of downtown.
