Pandora opened in May and we finally got a chance to visit in July. Disney Imagineers have created an immersive experience for guests. It is modeled after Disney’s movie, Avatar. The new area is located in the Animal Kingdom and has been so popular they have added extra magic hours for park guests this summer.
The elements of Pandora:
As you enter the world, you are greeted by the Valley of Mo’ara. The first thing you notice is the massive floating mountains. There are also beautiful waterfalls and very cool flowers. They did a great job setting the scene for the world of Pandora.
There are two rides the Na’vi River ride and Flight of Passage. On the Flight of Passage, you get the chance to fly on a banshee during a, 3D ride. This was by far my favorite. It was really amazing. If you are a fan of Soarin you will love this experience. Those who get motion sickness may have a bit of an issue. On the Navi River ride, you float through a bioluminescent rain forest. You can enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna. I also loved the creatures you will find in the forest and the large frogs jumping over you on lily pads. At the end there is a Shaman that wishes you well.
We were able to get a fastpass to Na’vi River but we did have to wait to ride the Flights of Passage. We ended up going first thing in the morning right when the park opened and got in line. We had to wait two hours and twenty minutes. While we were there we saw wait times well over three hours. The ride was worth the wait!
After exploring Pandora you will probably want to grab a bite to eat. Make sure to check out Satu’li Canteen. It is a quick-service option. I would describe it as Asian fusion. Here is what we had to eat.
Cheeseburger Steamed Pods – Bao Buns- Steamed Cheeseburger Pod stuffed with Ground Beef, Ketchup, Mustard, Pickle, and Cheddar Cheese served with Crunchy Vegetable Slaw and Vegetable Chips.
Chopped Wood-Grilled Chicken Bowl- Wood-Grilled Chicken Thighs marinated with Garlic and Olive Oil topped with Crunchy Vegetable Slaw and Boba Balls.
We loved the food. It was amazing. We will definitely go back again next time.
Kudos to the Disney Imagineers who created this wonderful space. It is an amazing experience. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
