What do you when a hurricane rains on your parade? World of Bluegrass moves the party inside. We weren’t sure what to expect. This is a huge party to turn on a dime. They recreated the footprint of the Red Hat Amphitheater inside the exhibit hall which was impressive.
During the day we walked around and checked out the exhibit hall, vendors and of course the music. There were lots of great vendors from Got to Be NC and wonderful artwork.
But what were really there for was the music, which was great. We got to see Steep Canyon Rangers with a short cameo from Sam Bush which is always a treat. We also got to see Alison Krauss and Union Station with Jerry Douglas. She sounded amazing. I must say my favorite is always the performance from Nicky with the Steep Canyon Rangers. He is such a talented fiddle player and has so much energy on stage.
Kuddos to all who were involved with moving everything inside. This was no easy task and it was done well. I am looking forward to day 2. My day 2 picks are Sierra Hull, Flat Lonesome Band, and the Grass Cats.
Hope to see you all out and about at World of Bluegrass.
