If a stage featuring Del McCoury, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, and Mark Schatz (and unfortunately not Alison Krauss) sounds like a great idea. I’ve heard it – trust me it is. Here are the pictures from the “Epic Collaboration” that ended the first day of Wide Open Bluegrass. I’d have to agree it was epic and the U2 cover was pretty amazing as well. The talent on the stage exceeded expectations but the fun they appeared to be having was awesome to see too. It was a shame when they finally pulled the plug on the show – I think those guys were just getting warmed up. Maybe Raleigh needs to lift the noise ordinance for the two days of this festival. It is really a shame to tell a stage full of Hall of Fame musicians to stop playing isn’t it?
Yes – I have another day of posts to get up here. They are still coming.
