When in Charleston you have to attend an oyster roast! We were thrilled to be able to attend an event hosted by Clammer Dave. Dave has over 10 years of experience farming clams and oysters in the waters just north of Charleston. He provides shellfish to the restaurants in the area and worldwide. He is known for his sustainable practices which minimize the impact on the environment.

The venue was the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. This was the perfect location to enjoy an oyster roast, not to mention the view was breathtaking. It was the perfect weather for an oyster roast!

We enjoyed all things oyster! We were able to try steamed and raw. I loved the different types of sauces that were available to try. One of my favorites was the ginger-lime sauce by the chef from Cru Cafe. It was excellent. We also got to try a crawfish pot pie, a local fish chowder bread bowl, and a local white fish dish with a wonderful gnocchi.  We washed all these oysters down with delicious bloody marys with pickeled okra.

As we were dining we enjoyed bluegrass music from the Bluestone Ramblers. I would say it was the perfect day in Charleston!
