In 2014, Pinehurst has the honor of hosting both the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Championships. It will mark the first time in history that both tournaments will be played in the same year, on the same course. When complete, Pinehurst No. 2 will become the only site to have hosted all five USGA Championships.
We were fortunate to get a couple of tickets to the practice round of the Men’s U.S. Open Championship and fortunately unlike other days in the tournament this meant we could take pictures of the event. I was very impressed with the setup and more importantly the transportation. The bus system was efficient and parking was easy. While we were there we saw Bubba Watson, Aaron Baddeley, Ryan Moore, Harris English, and Cody Gribble practice. The crowd was definitely interested in Bubba Watson with several people trying to talk to him during the round.
Overall it was a great time and fortunately, we dodged the weather. Looking forward to going back next week for the Women’s Open but regretfully we won’t have the camera with us unless I figure out a way to sneak one in between now and then. Any ideas?
