We finally got a chance to go to The Admiral on our AVL Food Tour. They set out to create a dive bar with an unexpected restaurant that thrives on creativity and that was indeed our experience at The Admiral. We started our adventure at the bar. I started with what they call a “Conceived Cocktail”. My drink was called Pedro & Pierre. It consisted of Espolon Reposado, St. Germain, Poblano, and Fresh Grapefruit served in a salted rim glass. This was a really great refreshing drink. I loved the citrus with the pepper.
We ordered a few different dishes and shared them. For starters, we got a baguette. The baguette was served with smoked apple butter. This was a perfect savory and sweet starter.
We then moved on to try the Vietnamese crêpe. The crêpe had fried oysters, cabbage, bean sprouts, and mint. This was a terrific crêpe. The mint was a pleasant surprise. It made a very fresh finish.
Up next on the menu was the pork chop. The pork was great but the sides really shined through on this dish. This dish was served with goat cheese grits, apple hash, and a leek slaw. The combination of all these flavors was great.
To end the dinner we ordered the Oatmeal Creme Pie. Oh my goodness! Little Debbie is jealous. This was so yummy!
I am so glad we finally got to check out The Admiral. Don’t let the outside deceive you. If you choose to eat here you will not be disappointed. Do make reservations ahead of time. We made reservations two weeks out for a Thursday evening and could only get a 9:00 table. I hope you enjoy your dinner and drinks as much as we did!
