In the early 1900’s, the building manufactured automobiles for Ford. Later, The Bomb Factory was commissioned during WWII to produce bombs and ammunition for the armed forces, hence the name “Bomb Factory”. In the mid-90’s, The Bomb Factory was transformed into a venue for a few years,  hosting bands such as PHISH, Radiohead, Dave Matthews Band, Sonic Youth, The Ramones, INXS, Nine Inch Nails, and Fugazi at its peak.
We were fortunate enough to snag some tickets to the Lumineers at this historic venue in the heart of Deep Ellum. And while food, drink and ice cream were highlights of the trip it is hard to beat a great show in an intimate venue like The Bomb Factory. The show was amazing and definitely worth a late Sunday night out even with an early flight the next morning. One of the highlights was the band playing in the crowd and the very astute quote “cowboy hats at concerts are like umbrellas in stadiums.” In the balcony, we didn’t have a hat blocking our view but we could see where some folks on the floor had that issue. Welcome to Texas!
If you get a chance and they are coming to the Raleigh/Cary area go see The Lumineers. Koko Booth isn’t a historic venue but all things being equal it isn’t a bad place to see a show.
