Larry’s Beans Tour

So maybe invoking thoughts of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a bit off in describing the Larry’s Beans Tour – then again our host would definitely make a great Willy Wonka so maybe it isn’t that far off. (The Gene Wilder adaptation not Johnny Depp.) That being said I definitely felt like Charlie as I walked among the fascinating world of sustainable fair trade kosher organic coffee.

Come with me and you’ll be
In a world of pure imagination…

If you aren’t familiar with Larry’s Beans jump over to their website and read up. Their mission is simple enough: “We’re out to prove we can sell awesome-tasting beans in a way to make the world a better place.” The tour gives you a look behind the scenes at how they do that and how their corporate philosophy drives them to create and innovate both with the coffee and beyond. I was particularly impressed with the building and how it was designed to be functional and sustainable with a lot of little details that made sense. The coffee we had before the tour started and during the tour was great but having had Larry’s Beans before that wasn’t beyond my expectations.

Overall the tour was a great one and if you get the chance to jump on to one in the future I definitely recommend it. Sorry I didn’t see any oompa loompas but then no one did anything to make them come out and sing for us either. Pictures after the jump include the vegetable oil powered short bus, the biodiesel fuel station, cat houses, security cameras (they were everywhere), and of course lots of coffee roasting and grinding machinery.
