Wong’s Tacos is now open in the GlenLake Office Park with a menu born in the Hawker Stalls of Malaysia and raised in the kitchens of Mexico. Affectionately called Mexinese and on the plate call it tasty. We tried the Korean Beef Bulgogi Burrito, the El Blanco Taco, the Bulgogi Taco, side of Black Bean and Corn Salad, and Crouching Churros, Hidden Caramel for dessert.
The food was excellent. The fusion between Asian and Mexican was done in a way that felt purposeful and not forced. The flavors were distinctly Asian with a very Mexican presentation. Overall a great meal. Most importantly – do not sleep on dessert. I don’t always think of Asian restaurants for great desserts but I would go back for another churro no questions asked.
We did not explore the drink menu on this lunch trip but with menu items like Wong’s Side Piece (Sapporo Draft & Tequila Shot) and the Wongarita (their take on a Margarita) and Don Wong Cadillac Marg (Top Shelf Margairta) that needs to change on our next trip.
Overall – this place is not on the beaten path but not too far out of the way and definitely worth finding. Close to both Crabtree Valley Mall and Edwards Mill Road you should be able to find it and enjoy the fusion stylings of Wong’s Tacos.
