I am always a fan of a good cause. Throw in a great cocktail with pizza from Chef Teddy Diggs and I am all in. The People’s Cocktail event was held on Monday, February 18 at Fox Liquor Bar. The concept for the event? A competitive cocktail fundraiser. Each bartender created a cocktail for their charity of choice. The attendees selected their cocktail and the most popular drink of the evening wins the proceeds for their charity. So basically every drink ordered equals one vote.
What we had to drink: Time is of the Essence which was an Irish Whiskey, St Germain, Rosemary, Lemon, and Basil (above). This drink benefited the Food Bank of North Carolina whose mission is No One Goes Hungry in Central & Eastern North Carolina.
I also had the Pay it No Mind which was Tequila, Dry Curacao, grapefruit, lime and bitters (right). This cocktail benefited The Trevor Project which is a national 24-hour, toll free confidential suicide hotline for LGBTQ youth. The drinks were wonderful.
Did we mention bar snacks to boot? From Chef Teddy Diggs of Coronato Pizza? Yessssssss! Ok so that pizza is worth all the hype. It is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. We had Pizza #2 which was a crisp pizza with roasted mushrooms, dandelion, sweet onions and Taleggio. Yum! We also tried the classic suppli. For those who have never tried suppli, it is a cheesy deep fried ball of goodness. They are a traditional Italian snack with rice and tomato sauce. It was so good.
It was a great evening for a great cause. Kuddos to Fox Liquor bar for creating a great experience.
