Split Pea Soup

It’s winter which means it is crock-pot season! If you are looking for something good and easy to make check out this easy split pea slow cooker recipe. It makes a huge amount so you can freeze some for later too.

Split Pea Soup

Equipment

  • 1 Crock Pot

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound Dried Green Split Peas
  • 2 Carrots Medium / Diced
  • 2 Celery Stalks Medium / Diced
  • ½ Onion Medium / Diced
  • 2 clove Garlic Medium / Minced
  • 1 Meaty Ham Bone or 2 Ham Hocks About 1 Pound
  • 4 cup Low-sodium Chicken or Vegetable Broth
  • 2 cup Water
  • Salt & Pepper To Taste

Instructions
 

  • Lay the dried split peas in the bottom of the crock-pot.
  • Add a layer of carrots, onion and celery.
  • Add the garlic.
  • Add your ham bone.
  • Pour your chicken broth and water.
  • Turn the slow cooker on high and cook for 5 to 6 hours or low for 8 to 10 hours.
