Split Pea Soup

It’s winter which means it is crock-pot season! If you are looking for something good and easy to make check out this easy split pea slow cooker recipe. It makes a huge amount so you can freeze some for later too.

Split Pea Soup

Ingredients

  • 1lb Dried Green Split Peas (Rinsed)
  • 2 Carrots (Medium / Diced)
  • 2 Celery Stalks (Medium / Diced)
  • 1/2 Onion (Medium / Diced)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (Medium / Minced)
  • 1 Meaty Ham Bone or 2 Ham Hocks (About 1 Pound)
  • 4 cups Low-sodium Chicken or Vegetable Broth
  • 2 cups Water
  • Salt (To Taste)
  • Pepper (To Taste)

Directions

Step 1
Lay the dried split peas in the bottom of the crock-pot.
Step 2
Add a layer of carrots, onion and celery.
Step 3
Add the garlic.
Step 4
Add your ham bone.
Step 5
Pour your chicken broth and water.
Step 6
Turn the slow cooker on high and cook for 5 to 6 hours or low for 8 to 10 hours.
