Showmars – Southern, Fresh, Greek

Hello Showmars! Welcome to the Triangle. I finally got to check out their newest location at Brier Creek in Raleigh. This Charlotte-based restaurant has 32 locations in total. Showmars first opened its doors in Charlotte in 1982. They wanted to combine fast food and formal dining and I think they have done that in their newest Triangle location.

Ok, here is what we had to eat. We started with a cup of chili which was really good. Just a bit of heat-not too much and very flavorful. We then tried the Greek Salad with Salmon. It has romaine, iceberg, and spring lettuce mix with kalamata olives, feta cheese, pepperoncini, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers & red onions  We sampled the classic grilled chicken pita which is a grilled marinated chicken breast in a pita with lettuce, tomato & tzatziki pita sauce. We then tried the mushroom cheddar pita burger which is two beef patties with sharp cheddar cheese, grilled onions, grilled portobello mushroom slices & mayo. We got to try their world-famous fish sandwich which is the world’s best, wild-caught, sustainable fried Alaskan fish fillet with tartar sauce. Oh, and did I mention the beyond burger?  This is a plant-based burger served with lettuce, tomato, pickles & chipotle mayo. And finally, we got a slice of baklava cheesecake for the grand finale.

Here are my top 3 favs from Showmars:

  1. The fish sandwich. There is a reason why they call it world-famous. It is lightly breaded and so delicious.
  2. My second favorite is chili. They had the perfect amount of seasoning and heat to it. It was great.
  3. And finally, the cheesecake was amazing. What’s not to love? Cheesecake and Baklava are the perfect matches.

If you need another reason other than just great food. to eat at Showmars, many of their ingredients are locally purchased. They also use sustainable fish so you can feel good about where your food is coming from.

If you are in the Brier Creek area and looking to grab a bite to eat, make sure to stop by Showmars.
