Shake Shack has arrived in Cary, North Carolina. People are super excited about this new location in Waverly Place. There has been lots of hype around their opening. The first Shake Shack started in New York in a park in 2004. Since then they have gathered a cult like following for their burgers. We stopped by for lunch today to see what all the excitement is about.
I opted for the Smoke Shack burger. I selected a single which is one burger patty. It is a burger with all-natural applewood smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper, and ShackSauce™ The chopped cherry peppers were really great and added a bit of zip to the burger. I really liked it.
I also ordered the Cary Cookie Crumble concrete which was the highlight of my meal. It was a vanilla custard concrete with marshmallow sauce, cooke butter and sugar cone. This thing was out of this world. They also had a concrete called the Pie Oh My which is a concrete with peach pie from the East Durham Bake Shop. I will be coming back for that soon. If you need to feel less guilty about the 490 calorie concrete you are about to consume, please know that 5 percent of the sales goes back to Cause for Paws! Talk about eating for a great cause!
The verdict, is Shake Shack is worth the hype. Great burgers and concretes. We are glad they call Waverly Place home.
