For this year’s Advent Calendar we’ll be exploring craft beer by sampling a beer from a North Carolina Brewery every day. We’ll share our thoughts and celebrate living in one of the best states for craft beer.
We’ll start our calendar with St. Benedict’s Breakfast Dubbel from Haw River Farmhouse Ales in Saxapahaw. (One of our favorite road trips from Raleigh.) They describe the beer as:
Brewed with organic flaked oats, dark chocolate and locally-roasted Sumatran and Ethiopian Harar coffee beans from Morrisville, NC’s Muddy Dog Roasting Company, our Trappist-style “Breakfast” Dubbel is a smooth, silky, eye-opening take on a classic style, with floral aromatics of deep-roasted coffee, spiced fig and rich, creamy cocoa.
At 7.2% ABV/35 IBU it is a very easy to drink enjoyable beer. Not something you want to follow a hoppy IPA with but definitely a good way to start your evening or your morning if a breakfast beer really is your thing. (Not mine.)
This is a great beer and one you should definitely add to your Advent Calendar this year.
