This event was held at the Cedar Room in the Cigar Factory. There are views of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. This rustic building was the perfect venue for a bourbon event.
We enjoyed Bourbon tastings and found out some fun facts about bourbon.
Here are some fun facts about bourbon:
- Bourbon must be made from at least 51% corn, aged in new charred oak barrels, begin barrel-aging at no more than 125 proof, and be bottled between 80 and 160 proof.
- The barrels that hold the liquor are toasted to bring caramelized sugars out of the wood, fired to evenly charcoal the interior, and then rung together with metal.
We also got to try some great snacks. We enjoyed the duck empanadas from the Canyon Kitchen in Cashiers. They were garnished with fried okra and were so good!
It was the perfect Friday afternoon in Charleston.
