Hungry? Check out the CurEat App

CurEat provides a list of restaurants in over 60 different cities and allows individuals to create and share their own lists. The app was created by Steve Mangano who wanted to create an app that is designed around positive endorsements with reliable content provided by the restaurants themselves.

The app will give you a list based upon your tastes. Another thing about the app to note is that you will not find any chains. This app allows the smaller independent restaurants to reach the consumers directly. In essence you create a list of restaurants you would like and recommend to friends and family. You then are able to share the recommendations.

CurEat was developed locally with Oak City Labs for the app development, and Purpose Ux for the technical design.

Here are a few of the local places you will find on CurEate:

  • Ashley Christensen: Poole’s Downtown Diner, Fox Liquor Bar, Beasley’s Chicken + Honey, Chucks, Death & Taxes
  • Charlie Deal: Dos Perros, Jujube, Juju Durham
  • Cheetie Kumar: Garland
  • Daniel Benjamin: lucettegrace
  • John May: Piedmont
  • Kevin Barrett: Dram & Draught
  • Lionel Vatinet: La Farm Bakery
  • Marjorie Hodges: North Carolina Museum of Art
  • Nation Hahn: Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation
  • Rochelle Johnson: Ponysaurus Brewing, The Cookery, Dashi
  • Ryan Hurley: Vert & Vogue
  • Scott Crawford: Crawford & Son
  • Sean Lily Wilson: Fullsteam Brewery
  • Victor Lytvinenko: Raleigh Denim Workshop
  • Wyatt Dickston: PICNIC Durham

I love the idea of discovering local restraunts with this new app. Make sure to follow CurEat on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for up-to-date information @CurEatapp. More information can be found at: cureatapp.com.

To illustrate the positive role this app aims to play in the hospitality industry, CurEat is donating $1 for every list posted on social media (FB, IG, Twitter) January 13th, 14th and 15th to the Food Bank. Please tag @CurEatApp and #CurEat for your list to generate $1 (or 5 meals) this coming weekend.  CurEat hopes to fund 10,000 meals this weekend! (You do not have to attend the launch party to participate in the fundraiser.)
