Star Wars Lego Advent Calendar #3 [2015]

If you didn’t recognize this as a LIN demolitionmech autonomous minelayer don’t feel bad – I didn’t either and I call myself a fan. As much as I enjoy the folks at Lego going deep to keep it interesting this little guy was hard to identify and the only real connection I see is a picture of one on Wookieepedia being on Tatooine so not too far off the previous sarlacc.

If I’m wrong and I’m sure someone will point it out if I am I’ll make updates keeping my original guess here as public shaming. Only 21 days till Christmas Eve so I better be good if I want to see Santa-3PO.

The LIN demolitionmech autonomous minelayer, commonly known as the LIN Demolitionmech, was a droid marketed by Cybot Galactica as a mine-laying and demolitions specialist.

The LIN droid was equipped with a visual sensor and an acoustic signaler that could communicate in the warbling of Droidspeak only. It could be used as a military droid, helping to deploy pressure bombs and anti-repulsor grenades.

The droid was able to move its manipulator arm 360 degrees, so it could both lay mines where it had just been and keep them away from its own heading.

During the Clone Wars, LIN droids were used by the Galactic Republic to clear mines.

During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire would also utilize these droids and many were found in civilian employ. [SOURCE]
