We got to do the Taste Carolina Gourmet Food Tour. The tour allows you to explore restaurants. You get a behind the scenes feel when you chat with chefs and get to try their food. Please note the restaurants may change on the tour so not every tour is the same.
Here is where we visited:
The Pilot House Restaurant – Seafood with Southern flair served in a restored 19th-century house with a large riverside terrace.
City Club of Wilmington – Historic estate’s formal restaurant featuring gourmet New American cuisine in an elegant atmosphere.
Bella’s Bar Local
Mon Âme Chocolate & Wine Bar
PinPoint Restaurant – A Coastal Community restaurant that showcases the bounty of Wilmington. (More on them soon.)
Peppered Cupcake – It is not just a dessert, it is an experience.
Beer Barrio – A craft beer, modern infused Mexican restaurant.
We loved the tour. Our guide, Courtney, was great. She was very knowledgeable about the food scene. We also learned abut the history of Wilmington. Did you know they used to grow Carolina Gold rice on Eagle Island? I loved learning fun facts while enjoying great food. Courtney also shared information about all the great spots to get local food – check out the post about Eagle Island Market here. Thanks for the recommendation. It was wonderful.
The thing I loved the most about the tour is hearing from the chefs and bartenders directly. They are normally behind the scenes and it was great to hear about how they prepared the food.
The Taste Carolina Gourmet Food tour was wonderful! They have many different tours in different cities throughout North Carolina. Make sure to check them out here.
