So seals and sea lions inhabit the La Jolla Cove. To be perfectly honest I don’t know which is which but I was able to find this when I got back –
Sea lions are brown, bark loudly, “walk” on land using their large flippers and have visible ear flaps. Seals have small flippers, wriggle on their bellies on land, and lack visible ear flaps.
Maybe this helps but I am still not 100% sure which is which. That being said they are amazing animals that seem to pay the people on the beach no mind. The one below proved their complete indifference to the people around them.
