Orange Bird #WDW23

In the magical world of Disney, there are countless characters that have captured the hearts of millions, but only a select few possess the timeless charm and endearing nature that make them truly unforgettable. One such character is Orange Bird, a delightful and whimsical creation of Disney.

Despite being a lesser-known figure compared to the likes of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Orange Bird has carved a special place in the hearts of Disney enthusiasts around the world. In this blog post, we will explore the origins, significance, and enduring popularity of Orange Bird.

Orange Bird made its first appearance in the 1970s, during the heyday of Disney’s theme park expansion. Originally created as a mascot for the Florida Citrus Commission, Orange Bird was designed to promote orange juice as a refreshing beverage and serve as a cheerful symbol of the Sunshine State. The character’s simple yet captivating design, featuring a round orange body, tiny wings, and a perpetual smile, struck a chord with audiences of all ages.

After a period of relative obscurity, Orange Bird experienced a revival in recent years, finding a new wave of popularity among Disney enthusiasts. The character’s resurgence can be attributed to Disney’s dedication to preserving the magic of its past and capitalizing on nostalgia. The increased availability of Orange Bird merchandise, new themed merchandise lines, and social media buzz has helped reignite the spark surrounding this charming citrus ambassador.

During the 2023 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival Orange Bird Ears were first released on March 1, 2023, at EPCOT in Walt Disney World. The ears were also eventually released on shopDisney. The ears feature embossed designs of the Orange Bird on each ear with an orange sequin bow in the center. I grabbed a pair during my last visit. I love them. They are a fun way to pay homage to this iconic Disney Character.
