The next stop on our culinary tour of Williamsburg was a Chocolate tasting that chronicled the history and tasted the key elements of chocolate and how those elements get combined to make what we know today. I won’t bore you with the history – it is better viewed on the American Heritage Historic Chocolate website. The tasting elements were very interesting with not everything being particularly pleasing – the raw chocolate or liquor was very bitter while the cocoa butter had no chocolate taste at all. The combined elements make a great and very familiar flavor. Yes – this was more educational than the other events of the weekend but definitely gives you an increased appreciation for chocolate.
