This weekend we got to check out the American Roots Music & Arts Festival. The music festival included big names like Eric Church, Modest Mouse, Sheryl Crow, Trombone Shorty, Willie Nelson and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. It was the perfect weekend for a music festival. The weather was beautiful and was great to sit out on the lawn and listen to some great tunes.
The event also had the Taste of Raleigh which was a food and brews celebration. Some of Raleigh’s great food trucks were there: Bam Pow Chow, Empire Eats, Healthy Grill on Wheels and Two Roosters Ice Cream. There was no shortage of good things to eat and drink.
As in any true festival format there were many craft vendors to buy shirts, clothing, jewelry, paper goods and more.
But back to the music…. We got to see Edward Sharpe and as always he was entertaining.This was a great festival to start in Raleigh. Our hope is that they will bring it back again next year and grow it even more.
Kudos to a great first year and fingers crossed they will come back again next year.
