Thalian Hall is one of the oldest theatres in the United States and has been in almost continuous use since its opening in 1858. Since its construction in 1855-1858, the City Hall/Thalian Hall building has served as both the area’s political and cultural center. Listed on the National Register for Historic Places, Thalian Hall is the only surviving theatre designed by John Montague Trimble, one of America’s foremost 19th-century theatre architects. The theatre was a great space and the show was really fun!
While we were in Wilmington We got to see Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in the famed theatre. The show based on the 1994 film of the same name follows Tick, Bernadette, and Adam as they board a bus named Priscilla and take their outrageous drag show across the Australian Outback. The music was great featuring tunes from the 70s and 80s.
If you find yourself in Wilmington make sure to see a show at Thalian Hall. It is a great space with great shows.
