Where is Raleigh going next? Destination set to Dix. The one year anniversary of the purchase of the park by the city was celebrated in style. From rides, art displays, bands, food trucks and more this was a reveal to many of all the space has to offer. Today may have Seen the most people to on the Dix campus at once in the modern era.
One of my favorite pieces was the three-dimensional “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” made famous by Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. You can walk into this piece of art in the same way Cameron focused in during the movie. This with the Ferris Wheel may have been a secret theme to the entire party.
This was a great event and one I hope they do again. Yes it was hot but I don’t think the heat stopped or even slowed down the fun. It was extremely well planned and from what I can tell had a flawless execution. This was a great way to share with folks in Raleigh that the doors are open in the big field at Dix Park. Look for the #DestinationDix hashtag across Instagram and Twitter for more pics and stories from the event.
