Black Twig Announces Cider Classes + Txotx Fest

In June, Black Twig Cider House’s Mattie Beason – a cider instructor for the US Association of Cider Makers – will begin offering monthly cider classes. This marks the first educational opportunity in the region to explore cider and its many styles, regions, and producers. Guests will taste four different ciders in each class, including a Basque cider from the restaurant’s txotx, a Spanish cider barrel.

Upcoming dates for Beason’s on-going cider classes are June 11th, July 23rd and August 27th, from 3pm to 4pm, and will include a Black Twig cider glass to take home. Seats are limited to keep the learning format personal. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased here.

“While cider is the largest growing beverage segment in the country, many people still think of cider as sweet and syrupy,” explained Beason, who has dedicated the past decade to his own cider education. “There is a cider out there for everyone and I want to introduce our guests to the huge range of ciders now at their fingertips,” explained Beason.

Mark your calendar for Txotx Fest, September 17th, Black Twig’s first annual cider festival – and the first of its kind in the Southeast to bring producers and chefs together to celebrate local, national and international ciders. Co-owner/Chef John Eisensmith will offer a whole deboned, sausage-stuffed local pig from Firsthand Foods.

And don’t miss Beason & Eisensmith as they travel with the txotx, serving cider at The Grand Blue & Gray Ball April 23rd, the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival June 3rd, Farm to Fork picnic June 5th, and the euphoria Food, Wine + Music Festival in Greenville, SC September 24th.
