TasteAtlas is a cool website that aggregates data to determine what the most popular food items are around the world and even in your city. I have no idea how they do this exactly but checking the Raleigh response I am imagining they aren’t too far off. A little surprised by the three different types of cheeses but BBQ (Carolina-Style, North Carolina-Style Barbecue, and Pulled Pork) makes perfect sense. Also a good pick with a Carolina-Style Hot Dog and who doesn’t like Sweet Potato Pie?
They didn’t miss the mark on my hometown of Winston-Salem either home to both Texas Pete and Moravian Cookies. 
I plan to use this site when we travel to figure out what I shouldn’t miss and to just explore different foods around the world. Definitely worth a visit.
