I recently got to speak with Brian Couey, the Fine Dining Operations Manager at Pinehurst Resort, about the Taste of the New South event that will be held over labor day weekend. This will be Brian’s third festival.
I asked Brian to start with an overview of the event. He said this year will have lots of variety. There will be craft beer seminars, putting competitions with a beer tasting and an opportunity to get off campus to learn about the history of Pinehurst.
Brian is looking forward to the pig picking and oyster roast this year. Guests will even be able to enjoy bluegrass music while dining on bbq. Staff members have even built stand up oyster tables special for this event. They will be cooking the oysters over a wood fire. Can’t wait to try the oysters with a dash of horseradish.
I was also able to find out a bit more about the beer that was brewed with Highland Brewery. They worked in collaboration with Highland to create a special beer for the event, a small batch American Pale Ale. The beer was brewed with rosemary and lemon peel. It sounds like the perfect beer for labor day weekend.
Brian said people should attend the event because there is something for everyone and he is looking forward to exceeding everyone’s expectations. I can’t wait to see what the team from Pinehurst Resort has in store for guests this weekend.
Can’t wait to see your post about the event. Makes me want to try it next year! Have fun!
