Did you know Amazon does tours? You can visit their fulfillment center which is located off of Jones Sausage Road in Raleigh, North Carolina and it is well worth your time. If you are like me you place a few orders a week and it magically appears at your door step in two days or less. Thank you Prime! I was curious to see how the magic happened and hopped on the opportunity to do a tour.
The tours run 1.5 hours and you get to see their warehouse. I am so sorry pics aren’t allowed inside. But there was plenty to see and check out. The fulfillment center is over 640,000 square feet and is 4 stories tall. There are over 30 million items in the warehouse. One of the things that is impressive is the robots they have that bring the items to the staff to place in the bins. Everything in this location is 18 inches or smaller since it needs to fit in the bin. From there the bins move to shipping. This is where they are packaged and weighed. Then magically they leave the warehouse to be delivered.
It was a really neat opportunity to visit a company that has a 7 trillion dollar economic impact. If you are looking for something interesting to do, this is worth your while.
