Ask almost anyone and they can name a movie filmed in North Carolina. Some of us can even point out locations from movies like Arthur Newman, Golf Pro in downtown Raleigh. This exhibit at the North Museum of History runs through the history of movies in this state and shows the state of the industry today. They have some great props and really tell the story of how movies have evolved in a relatively short span of time.
One of my favorite pieces wasn’t from a movie but a movie themed amusement park I have vague recollections of from when I was young. They have memorabilia from the Land of Oz in Banner Elk, NC. What I didn’t know was that a future Star Wars legend visited the park for the ribbon cutting. Very cool coincidence.
