NC Chinese Lantern Festival

Bright lights and amazing creatures light up the night at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary until January 8th. This amazing display honors the tradition of the Chinese holiday and celebrates this unique cultural event. With bright colors lighting up the evening sky this event is fun for all ages.

Tickets are available for this annual event but you have to act quickly. If you decide to go plan to walk a good distance inside the amphitheatre and know that crowds will increase as the night goes on. They allow cameras and tripods and several people there were taking what I would assume were amazing images of the displays. It is very kid friendly with interactive exhibits and the food/drinks are available for purchase.

Overall I would recommend going early but I might skip the twilight tickets (we went early and the benefit of missing a large part of the crowd has to be weighed against the additional cost). When it gets dark the exhibits are really stunning. Tickets are available at the gate which will save you a little on the online purchase fee but you do run the risk of the night selling out.
