This year at the Annual Academy Awards Gala at Raleighwood Cinema we got a behind the scenes tour of the projection room. I have never been in a film projection room before and this one happens to be an old school analog (film) projector. Soon to be upgraded to digital this is a remarkable dinosaur that has stood the test of time for over twenty years.
The most surprising thing to be was the size of the film reels and the space the entire mechanism took up and the fact that the machine runs on DC power vs. standard AC because it is more consistent. It is fascinating to see the other side after sitting in so many movie theaters over the years.
