On a short trip to Artsplosure we got to see the Art-on-the-move buses all in one place at one time.
Participating artists have created an art gallery on wheels, with imaginative designs that include imagery of riders on the bus, historic views of Raleigh, whimsical dinosaurs, robots and monsters, and a typographic portrayal of Sir Walter Raleigh.
Over sixty designs were submitted for consideration for this year’s project. Artwork submissions are reviewed by a panel of community members and representatives from the Arts Commission and Capital Area Transit, with final selections recommended by the review panel and approved by the Arts Commission and the Raleigh Transit Authority.
Rain caused us to leave early but if we find time we’ll head back down to check out more of the art and hopefully come home with something unique for the collection.
