It has been freezing here which means it is time for chili. It is also fall which means all things pumpkin are in full effect. So why not pumpkin chili? OK so if you look closely at the ingredient list, yes, this does have caramel ice cream topping which may seem kind of weird. Don’t knock it until you have tried it. This is some of the best chili. It is sweet and savory. If you decide to try it let me know what you think.
Turkey Pumpkin Chili
Ingredients
- 1lb Ground Turkey
- 1 Bell Pepper (Chopped)
- 1 Onion (Chopped)
- 1 can Diced Tomatoes (14.5 Ounces with Liquid)
- 1 cup Water
- 1 can Kidney Beans (15 Ounces Rinsed & Drained)
- 1 can White Beans (15 Ounces Rinsed & Drained)
- 1 can Pumpkin Puree (Not Pumpkin Pie - Plain Pumpkin)
- 5 tablespoons Caramel Ice Cream Topping
- 2 tablespoons Garlic Powder
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon Ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon Chili Powder
- 1 tablespoon Hot Sauce
- Salt & Pepper (To Taste)
Directions
Step 1 | |
In a small bowl combine ¼ cup of the pumpkin puree and 2 tablespoons of the caramel topping and set aside | |

Warm your pot to high heat | |
Step 3 | |
Add onion, bell pepper and garlic | |
Step 4 | |
Cook for about 5 minutes | |

Add turkey and cook until browned | |

Add tomatoes, pumpkin, water, chili, hot sauce, salt and pepper and beans | |
Step 7 | |
Turn heat down to low and let simmer for 30 minutes | |
Step 8 | |
Add cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and caramel | |
Step 9 | |
Let simmer for another 10 minutes | |
Step 10 | |
Place in plates and top with the pumpkin caramel mixture you've set aside earlier |
