J. Alexander’s describes itself as “a contemporary American restaurant, known for its wood-fired cuisine. Their core philosophy is to provide you with the highest possible quality dining experience.” It has been open in Raleigh now for almost a year and we finally got a chance to eat there. This is their first restaurant in North Carolina.
It is located right behind Crabtree Valley Mall. The atmosphere was upscale and a perfect place to grab lunch after shopping.
They are known for their American menu – steaks, and burgers, so of course, this is what we tried. I had the Steak Burger which is ground beef tenderloin and ribeye, Tillamook cheddar, grilled onions, and Kiawah Island dressing. The Kiawah Island Dressing is their version of 1,000 islands. All of their chuck is ground daily in-house and it shows. The burger was out of this world and the fries served with it were amazing. They were thin shoestring fries perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper.
Anthony had the Steak ‘N’ Fries which is a French Brasserie-style steak with garlic, served with french fries. He let me have just one bite and it too was great.
