This weekend C & I added a 50mm 1:1.4 lens to our collection. Why? We both enjoy taking pictures and this looked like a fun lens to play around with. It has a shallow depth of field that allows for some cool effects and much higher clarity than other lenses we have used.
In the first round of testing we used our favorite model Princess, various Lego sets, Christmas ornaments and other random items around the house. This is a first pass but the best way to get better is to get feedback so let me know what you think.
Thanks to the folks at Southeastern Camera for helping us navigate the used equipment and saving us a few dollars and Amber Byrd Photography for talking us through why this would be a good addition to our equipment.
Hopefully we’ll have more good pics around here as we learn to do more with the camera and add more tools to our toolbox. All images shot with the Nikon D3000 and the 50mm lens.
